format: Article | COMUNICAZIONI SOCIALI - 2011 - 1. Cinema e sonoro in Italia (1945-1970)
Year: 2011
Tale rivoluzione, tuttavia, porta simultaneamente a profonde modificazioni nell’iconografia e nello scenario visivo che in alcuni casi danno luogo a manifestazioni e forme dello spettacolo pionieristicamente crossmediali. The world of Italian post-war show-business records a dramatic shift in the organization of production and public, and has as its center the vocal and musical innovation. This revolution, however, leads simultaneously to profound changes in the iconography and visual scenario that in some cases gives rise to cross-media forms of entertainment events that are also pioneers. Domenico Modugno well reflects this deliberate attempt to ride the medial revolution of the period. He gave life to a sound-visual icon, a new ambivalent and complex form, which knows how to distill archaic features and modern ideas, reconcile screamers and stornello singers and knows how to transmigrate between the different media. The famous epithet ‘cantattore’ (singer-actor) so often abused for this interpreter, is therefore not confined to the desire of interpreting and living the songs that was not isolated after the war, but it rather refers to that musical and visual icon, generated by the cultural industry of the sixties: the easy-going figure with a guitar on his shoulder that Modugno builds throughout his career, from the repertoire of Sicily, through the songs, the radio broadcastings, cinema and theater, a fragile bridge between the new and the old, ready to give way to the anxieties of the new decade.

I ‘media sport studies’: un quadro interpretativo digital
format: Article | COMUNICAZIONI SOCIALI - 2006 - 1. Sport e media
Year: 2006
The sports in its ‘media’ dimension has only recently found a recognized significance inside social sciences, above all in the studies with relation to the dynamics between sense-building apparatus and some cultural products rooted in our contemporary society. The author, through a multidisciplinary approach, points out the main areas of study that have as their main object the sports media, and outlines an organized corpus which can be identified in media sport studies. A variegate and complex scenery emerges from this approach, leading to reflection on the necessity to observe sports as a product lying in the centre of a relation between society and the media system.
